Rescued puppy Matty, another NDAA success story
Matty, so named because of the terrible condition of his coat when he was found, was a collie from Exmoor. He was picked up by the NDAA with a huge wound on his foot and a jaw so badly broken that his neck muscles and half of his tongue were paralysed. He was also blind in one eye and deaf on the same side, the terrible catalogue of injuries due to receiving a massive kick to the side of his head. Diana took him to Market Vets in South Molton where he received intensive treatment and loads of TLC. When he was out of danger, a tireless fosterer, Lynn, took him home and provided constant care because Matty's useless neck muscles wouldn't allow him to swallow. Lynn didn't give up, but devised a way of feeding him two-feet off the ground instead until he was better! Once he'd recovered, the NDAA found Matty a fantastic new home in Surrey, another lucky dog who got his chance to be 'Reborn Free'. Sadly, Matty passed away three months later due to a stroke, caused by the brain damage he'd endured. Thanks to the North Devon Animal Ambulance team, however, Matty was able to learn that there are kind and loving people who, in his last few months, were able to give him the wonderful life he'd never known before.
