One of the saddest parts of our work comes when an elderly person loses their beloved animal companion. Many societies don't re-home animals to elderly people. The NDAA, however, has a policy whereby, if the prospective owner is capable of looking after an animal well, their age doesn't matter. That's why we actively match elderly people, who are seeking a pet, with elderly cats! Elderly cats because a time comes when curtain-climbing antics, playfully scratched legs and tons of energy is more than some owners need! The policy benefits both the new owner and the cat by providing exactly the right balance of demands and rewards for both parties.
