Fundraising and Donations for the North Devon Animal Ambulance (NDAA)

Quite simply, our work for North Devon animals wouldn't be possible without the generous volunteer help and fundraising efforts from the local community.

All money donated or raised through NDAA fundraising activities (special events, collections and the NDAA charity shops is used to care for the animals. Unlike some animal charity organisations the NDAA doesn’t have any paid employees – and we don't intend to in the future!

North Devon Animal Ambulance

The number of animals needing rescue is increasing

Sadly, the number of animals, domestic and wild, requiring rescue, treatment and rehoming continues to rise. Veterinary (several thousand pounds per month), vehicle, medication and animal accommodation costs only get higher. No matter how carefully we manage our funds and prioritise allocation of money, the North Devon Animal Ambulance relies on a continuous stream of funds. It's another way that you can help our work for North Devon animals.

How can I help?

There are many ways that you can help raise funds for the work of the NDAA.

Come to an NDAA fundraising event

Every year sees many NDAA fundraising events across the county. Large and small, from potwalloping at Westward Ho! to the North Devon Show they are well publicised, often in local media such as the North Devon Journal or in our own North Devon Animal Ambulance newsletter.

Come along and join in the fun!

Fundraisers help at an NDAA event

Volunteer your time to help at an NDAA event or at our charity shops

The North Devon Animal Ambulance also raises funds through its popular charity shops. We're always keen to hear from enthusiastic volunteers who could give a few hours to help (and have fun with a great team) at one of our shops.

Alternatively, please come along and browse the constantly changing range of quality items on sale at the shops. Or bring along good condition items that we can sell.

Hold your own NDAA fundraising event

Could you make something to sell, bake a cake or come up with a new fundraising idea! Everything helps, from a cake or a jar of jam to an international fundraising trip like the one that Devon's Keith Pugsley recently made to raise funds for the animal ambulance.

Keith with Black Betty

Keith and Black Betty on the road to Banjul

Keith, a loyal NDAA supporter took part in 2007’s Plymouth-Banjul Challenge to raise funds for the ambulance and Diana Lewis’s work in the field of animal welfare. In February 2007, Devon-based Keith and his friend Graham de Meur successfully drove across Europe, the Sahara desert and down the West African coast to Banjul in the Gambia where his Jeep, Black Betty, was auctioned off for Gambian childrens’ charities and the Gambian Olympic Committee. The trip, involving three weeks of arduous driving, was funded from outside the NDAA so that all of the money raised by sponsorship and donations (several thousand pounds) went directly to the North Devon Animal Ambulance service.

The Road to Banjul

Whether you bake a cake or drive to Africa, you can be sure that every single penny raised goes to help Devon's animals.

Regular donations by standing order give you a safe, cost effective and easy way to make a regular contribution to saving animals in North Devon – and provide the secure funding for NDAA work which helps us to plan ahead for the North Devon's future animal rescue requirements. If you would like to donate, please ask us for a Gift Aid form so your gift will be increased by 28p for every £1.00 you give to help North Devon animals.

If you would like to make a donation, please send a cheque, made payable to NDAA, to:

Include a legacy in your will

What better way could there be to say 'thank you' to a lifetime of pleasure from Devon's animals than to include a legacy in your will. Please ask us for advice about the most effective way to do this.

How will you help?

So, how are you going to contribute to the work of the North Devon Animal Ambulance? If you just can't wait to get involved through fundraising, rehoming an animal or making a donation, please contact us now!
