In North Devon, we’re blessed with some of the most beautiful countryside in the South West UK. This countryside is home to a wonderful range of wildlife, ranging from tiny toads to soaring buzzards and from seals to Exmoor's majestic deer.
Sadly, whether by accident, carelessness, the cruelty of a minority of people or just the harsh realities of nature, the county’s wildlife often needs the animal rescue services provided by the North Devon Animal Ambulance.
A passion for looking after North Devon animals
Whether it's a frightened, abandoned baby seagull, a hedgehog trapped in a discarded tin can or an injured fox slowly starving in an illegal trap, the North Devon Animal Ambulance is here to rescue, treat and rehabilitate North Devon animals – including its wildlife. We have no social or political bias: just a passion for looking after the interests of North Devon's domestic animals and wildlife wherever they are and whatever has happened to them.
The animal ambulance is paramount to wildlife welfare in Devon
The following examples show the wildlife rescue service that the animal ambulance provides. As you will see, the work of the animal ambulance is paramount to animal welfare in Devon.
WARNING: some of the pictures on this page are graphic and may upset you. Though they’re unpleasant, we feel it’s important to show them so you can fully understand the challenge facing the North Devon Animal Ambulance.
The NDAA needs your support
These examples show some of the things that, sadly, happen to Devon wildlife. Some incidents, those that are purely the result of nature, are hard to avoid. The others show how a tiny minority of people simply don't respect wildlife.
Fortunately, for every cruel or uncaring person we know there are thousands who appreciate the rich diversity of wildlife found in North Devon. You are the people, young and old, who support our work and help us by calling to report wildlife in distress. Without your continuing support, the above cases would have been very different.
The NDAA needs your support to continue its work so please visit the Fundraising page for details of how you can help.
